"The Predator" is in theaters this weekend. No, not some horrible entertainment executive but the latest in the classic sci-fi series. The original starred Arnold Schwarzenegger but this one's got Boyd Holbrook, Olivia Munn and Jacob Tremblay (the kid from "Room"). We also take on "White Boy Rick" which is based on a true story about a 15-year-old FBI informant.. The incredible cast features Matthew McConaughey, Bel Powley, Jennifer Jason Lee and impressive newcomer Matthew Merritt. Bill McCuddy tells us about the Nat Geo documenatry "Science Fair" and he makes some bold award predictions for it. And speaking of predictions - Neil gives us his picks for the upcoming Primetime Emmy Awards. As for us, we just want to win your attention, so listen in!

As they approach the final few shows of the Australian, intercontinental and trans-pacific era of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour, your friends in podcasting have really been ramping up with great episodes. And those episodes have led to an overflowing “mailbag”. On this week’s installment, Dean and Phil will finally get to several of these missives, which range in content from corrections about things Dean and Phil have said to questions about the dubbing of movies and TV into different languages, from a question about mysterious sounds to one about the ineffable art of casting the right performers for the right roles. Of course, Dean and Phil will comment upon the latest show biz and media news, including the controversy surrounding Nike, the latest charges leveled against CBS head honcho Les Moonves, and the Academy’s major about-face for this year’s Oscars. All that, plus Dean updates his Down Under Bucket List and he and Phil remember the late, great Burt Reynolds.
We celebrate the 25th anniversary of The X-Files, discuss The Girl watching Star Trek, and talk #NerdGoals
The day of this episode release is the 25th anniversary of The X-Files. It's absolutely insane that much time has passed and technically the show is still going on; for better or worse. We reminisce about our first memories of the show and how it was the first show we watched together from pilot to finale.
Long time listeners will remember that The Girl is not the biggest Star Trek fan but lately it has been her idea to watch some Next Gen. Truly beautiful to behold. We round out the show with our "Nerd Goals". Nerdy things in life we haven't achieved yet or accomplished. Like doing the LOTR walking tour or watching all of AFI's top 100 movies.
What are some of your nerd goals?

Eric Anderson "Anubis": "THE SLAUGHTER OF THOUSANDS OF US CITIZENS IN BAGHDAD WASN'T ENOUGH—SO NOW THE CALIPHATE HAS A NEW PLAN ANUBIS, the second installment of Eric C. Anderson's thrilling "New Caliphate" trilogy, picks up where OSIRIS left off, on a roller-coaster of soldiers, spies, statesmen and sellouts, all thrown together either to save the world—or see it destroyed. Marine Corps Master Gunnery Sergeant More and US Army Special Forces Major Faheem are once more thrust to the front as the world braces for a hurricane of terror. With an outrageously enigmatic US president dead, his most hated political opponent about to be inaugurated, and ISIS attacking on multiple global fronts, will America and her allies give in to the jihadi and withdraw from the Middle East? The only way for More and Faheem to prevent the crisis from becoming a catastrophe is to turn to More's nemesis ODIN—the ultimate cyber-warrior. With rivers of blood ready to run through the capitals of Europe, Africa, and Washington, D.C., the clock is ticking..."

Multi instrumentalist, composer, and producer Gavin Kennedy released his debut album today, Sunchaser. The fully instrumental 11 track album was co-produced by UK-based producer and bassist, Adam “Nolly” Getgood. The progressive project is five years in the making for Gavin, which is something he represents in the album with his three part track, “An Ecology.”
As Sondheim wrote, "Art isn't easy," but listening to people across the globe talk about it is! Our selection of shows that fall under the art umbrella is unparalleled, because we've got the world's most beloved authors, most talked-about actors and truly groundbreaking artists discussing their work, their influences and the creative process. On any given day, join in conversation with bestselling novelists, with museum curators on major fine art exhibits, with directors and writers whose films are the talk of Sundance or Cannes, with newsmakers whose latest works are changing the face of photography, mixed media or interior design. Spoken word is also voiced here, and other forms of poetry, as are journaling, crafts and more. Yes, BlogTalkRadio is bursting with self-expression; so if you've got a creative passion you'd like to share with the world, why not host your own show? We'll have you know, that part is easy.
