Empowering People to Heal from Chronic Pain

    in Health

In this episode, Dr. David Hanscom continues his discussion with Becky Curtis, founder and CEO of the pain management coaching company, Take Courage Coaching. She talks about the techniques her coaches use in working with patients to help them heal, and the importance of building trust and motivation in helping them make forward progress. She emphasizes the key lesson she learned in dealing with her own chronic pain - what you focus on, you empower.
After a car accident left her with severe chronic pain, Becky Curtis went through a pain clinic where she learned pain was an experience she could improve.  During her treatment, she recognized a piece that was missing for most people in pain:  ongoing support and learning how to personally manage pain.  She developed the program—Take Courage Coaching™ to help people in pain achieve the skills she used.  Today, her company, through its network of pain management coaches, partners with clients in 46 states to achieve their chosen goals. Her practitioners use a bio-psycho-social perspective, viewing each person as intrinsically whole and the ultimate expert in the healing journey.

Myeloma Crowd Radio: Keith Stewart, MB, CHB, Princess Margaret Cancer Center

    in Health

Myeloma specialists and myeloma patients alike want to know which treatment will work best before they are taken. Dr. Keith Stewart and colleagues from the Mayo Clinic Scottsdale have developed a new test using a "direct-to-drug" screening that helps determine how certain myeloma cells (with specific biomarkers and pretreatment histories) will react to different myeloma therapies. The new test is flexible enough to accommodate new drugs as they become FDA approved and is a way to avoid using drugs that won't provide much impact. This flexibility is required with the rapidly changing environment in myeloma.
Personalized care in myeloma is especially tricky because of the differences in each myeloma patients' cells. A single patient can have an average of 5 different "types" of myeloma at diagnosis and those types can evolve over time. This is called heterogeneity. Add to that the large number of potential treatment combinations, and it becomes an art and a science to treat myeloma patients. This new test will help provide much needed guidance. Learn more about this fascinating topic with Dr. Stewart.

Lost Arts Radio Show #291 - Special Guest Dr. Judy Mikovitz, Ph.D

    in Health

If the world were in a healthy, normal condition, you could ask any real health scientist their view of the fake pandemic, and they would tell you their clear perception of what it is, the hoaxes behind it and how it's operating to deceive us into enslaving and harming ourselves. But most scientists today have been successfully cult-programmed into repeating acceptable information and dismissing anything in agreement as nonsense. Rarely, we run into a real scientist with high-level credentials and experience, all combined with character, integrity and a desire to actually help humanity.
That powerful combination is a major threat to the corrupt power structure currently acting out their plan to enslave and destroy life on our planet. I mean all the life on our planet, humans and all the other life forms whose existence makes ours possible.
One such real scientist is Dr. Judy Mikovitz, Ph.D, author of the books Plague, Plague of Corruption and The Case Against Masks, all available on Amazon, or via her site, www.plaguethebook.com. We are fortunate to have Dr. Mikovitz joining us this Sunday for an in-depth discussion on what's going on behind the pandemic propaganda, and essential issues like masks, virus transmission, case and death numbers, and vaccines currently in development that our government and medical industry hope to make mandatory. This is a show you'll want to watch and share everywhere quickly so it can't be blocked, and more people can know the truth of this massive crime in progress.

Commonly missed symptoms after a concussion with Dr. Sarah Vose, PT, DPT

    in Health

Dr. Sarah earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2007 from Northeastern University and has over 10 years of experience as a physical therapist. She also earned her Master of Science in physical therapy and a Bachelor of Science in rehabilitation science from Northeastern University.
Sarah decided to study physical therapy after experiencing a devastating motor vehicle accident in high school. She sustained several injuries in the accident including a traumatic brain injury with retro and anterograde amnesia, a shattered femur and patella at the left knee joint, seatbelt and airbag injuries, and multiple fractures in her dominant hand. Initially, her treatment focused on restoring function to the knee and hand and her brain injury was largely ignored. It seemed that the doctors and physical therapists she saw at the time did not really have the knowledge to effectively address the brain injury. When she was able to walk again, her treatment was considered a success and she was discharged.
However, years later she continued to experience symptoms ranging from insomnia and mood swings to gut issues and brain fog. Her issues with word retrieval were some of the hardest to deal with. She did not realize at the time that much of what she was dealing with was actually related to her brain injury. It took becoming a physical therapist herself and taking the initiative to study post-concussion syndrome independently and through continuing education courses for Sarah to gain the knowledge she needed to help not only herself but her clients going through the same thing. Post-concussion syndrome is now one of the things Sarah specializes in. www.bodyandmindpt.com
