    in Politics

Click here to chat with us during the LIVE show broadcast!
Have you had your healthy dose of reality lately? There are always at least two sides to every story. Have you ever wondered how someone, who saw the same thing you did, walked away telling a vastly different story? Which version was correct? Which one was the REAL story? Actually, both are! It’s just a matter of perspective. Joe takes the issues… especially the controversial issues (politics, prejudice, religion, illegal immigration)… and brings in people from different sides to share their viewpoint. This is definitely not a fluff piece. And while no one is attacked, the questions are hard-hitting. But the conversation is always respectful and you’re sure to learn something new, even if you don’t agree! If you’ve always wondered how the “other side” thinks and how they’ve arrived at their “stand”, then this is the show for you!
It’s not the right side, it’s not the wrong side, but the REAL side of the issues!

  • VOTE! Register. Make 100% SURE You ARE Registered, and VOTE!

    in Politics

Are you as sick of this crap as I am?
If you are a person of color, a young person, a person living in a "depressed" area of any age, your right to vote is being erroded.
The Voting Rights Act of 1965 is a landmark piece of federal legislation in the United States that prohibits racial discrimination in voting.
Section 5 of the VRA requires certain states and local governments to obtain federal preclearance before implementing any changes to their voting laws or practices.
Section 4(b), contains the coverage formula that determines which jurisdictions/states are subjected to preclearance based on their histories of discrimination in voting.
On June 25, 2013, in the case Shelby County v. Holder, the Supreme Court ruled by a 5-to-4 vote that Section 4(b) is unconstitutional. That had the effect of making the VRA impotent against the very states and jurisdictions that are still committing vioaltions against people's Constitutional right to vote.
This show is all about Get Out The Vote and REGISTER to Vote.
This is betond important. This year's election outcome will determine if we still have a Democracy, if we are still a Democratic Republic, with a Constitutional Democracy.
So, if you've just stopped by, but don't have time, or can't listen to this show for whatever reason, PLEASE:
    Thank you.

Marcello Rollando talks with Virginia Together, Peter Rousselot

    in Politics Progressive

Peter Rousselot is on the Board of the Together Virginia PAC. The Together Virginia PAC was founded to emphasize the importance of bringing people together, building communities and coalitions to solve problems, and having a government that works for everyone. They are focused on bringing people together from rural and urban parts of Virginia.  Together Virginia PAC is a strong supporter of Democratic candidate Carter Turner to fill a vacancy in Virginia’s 8th Delegate District in the House of Delegates. If Carter can win this seat, it will shift the partisan make-up of the House of Delegates from 51 R/49 D to 50 R/50 D. This would lead to a major change toward bi-partisanship and co-operation between the two parties in the 2019 legislative session.
Peter Rousselot is the immediate Past Chair of the Arlington County Democratic Committee. He has served as the Arlington Chair of the successful 2010 Jim Moran for Congress campaign in Arlington, and also served on DPVA’s Strategic Planning Committee. He also ran for Chair of the Democratic Party of Virginia and was affiliated with the Washington, DC law firm of Hogan & Hartson (now known as Hogan Lovells) for 28 years (Associate: 1966-1974; Equity Partner: 1975-1994; Member, Executive Committee: 1986-1988).
Peter is Summa Cum Laude, Yale University; JD, Harvard Law School. He is an Op Ed Columnist at Peter’s Take and ARLnow.com, and board member for Together Virginia, a new PAC dedicated to fostering conversations among Virginians, with a particular focus on rural voters.

  • CUTV News Radio to Highlight Ekene A. Amaefule of Caring Hearts International

    in Non-Profit

Auburn, WA -- Ekene A. Amaefule, or Kennie as she is popularly known, learned a lot of valuable lessons from her parents. Perhaps more important than anything else, Kennie’s parents taught her to be a philanthropist—to take care of the other children who had less privilege, little food or clothes, or looked sickly.
Kennie’s incredible heart led to her be honored as a social activist, to adopt two teensy preemie twin sons, and to be a heroine and wish granter for orphans and other citizens of Nigeria. Kennie founded a non-profit organization known as Caring Hearts International that is trying to resolve many of the issues confronting people in her native country of Nigeria. Nigerians lack clean water and that can lead to various diseases, so Kennie and her volunteers helped construct a well in the eastern part of Nigeria.
Quality medical care is hard to come by or too expensive, so one of the main goals of Caring Hearts International is to complete the free medical clinic they’ve been constructing in Nigeria.
In addition to medical care, Kennie and her crew will oversee a women’s center with services that help women develop marketable skills, and also micro loans for young people—to help them learn trades, expand skills and become entrepreneurs. The governor of Imo State in Nigeria recognized Kennie’s contributions across his nation, and here in the US she was recently named Woman of the Month by P.O.W.E.R, an executive women’s group.
What makes Kennie truly beautiful is that open, caring heart, and benevolent spirit.
